Self-draw (自摸 · Ji Mo) is a Hong Kong mahjong scoring bonus: You finished your hand by picking your winning tile off the wall yourself — nobody threw it to you. Mahjiku's default sheet prices it at 0 faan — it ships switched off, so a win whose only named line is this one is worth just the 1 faan base until a table gives it a value in House Rules. Payment follows the hand's whole faan total, not this line alone: under Mahjiku's default additive model the total is what each payer hands over — all three opponents on a self-draw (自摸), the discarder alone on a discard win (點炮). Faan values are a table's own call; this is Mahjiku's shipped default, editable in House Rules.

What 1 faan actually pays

Faan is not the score by itself — it is the number the table turns into points, and Hong Kong tables do that two different ways. Both are shipped in Mahjiku; the additive model is the default.

Self-draw: all three opponents pay. Discard: only the player who threw the tile pays. Both columns are the winner's gain, straight out of the app's settlement function.

Worth knowing. Under a doubling table a hand below the 3 faan minimum pays nothing at all — the zeros above are the engine's minimum-faan gate, not a rounding artefact.

Self-draw is priced at 0 in Mahjiku's default ruleset, so it does not change what the hand is worth — it changes who pays. That is the difference between the two right-hand columns above: three payers instead of one. A table that wants self-draw to also be worth something gives it a value in House Rules (toggles.self_draw_bonus), and the engine starts adding it.
