What Seven Pairs means

Instead of four sets and a pair, your hand is seven pairs — seven matching couples of tiles.

How to spot it. Everything is in twos: count seven pairs, nothing left over.

The 7 faan for Seven Pairs is only part of it. The same tiles also satisfy Concealed Hand (+2) — patterns stack in Hong Kong scoring, which is why a hand named for one shape often pays a good deal more than that shape's own value.

What 10 faan actually pays

Faan is not the score by itself — it is the number the table turns into points, and Hong Kong tables do that two different ways. Both are shipped in Mahjiku; the additive model is the default.

Self-draw: all three opponents pay. Discard: only the player who threw the tile pays. Both columns are the winner's gain, straight out of the app's settlement function.
