Heavenly Hand

天和 · Tin Wo

27faan
Mahjiku's default value, from the combination catalog — the engine has no detector for this hand yet, so a table scores it by hand. Your table can price it differently; the engine reads whatever your rule set says.

What Heavenly Hand means

The dealer’s opening 14 tiles are already a complete winning hand. The rarest event in mahjong.

How to spot it. When it happens: the dealer wins on the deal itself — no draws, no discards.

What it adds up to

Every win starts at 1 faan for the base, so a hand whose only named line is Heavenly Hand is worth 1 + 27 = 28 faan. Anything else the hand happens to be — a flush, a triplet shape, a dragon set — stacks on top of that.

What 28 faan actually pays

Faan is not the score by itself — it is the number the table turns into points, and Hong Kong tables do that two different ways. Both are shipped in Mahjiku; the additive model is the default.

Additivefaan is the payout28+84+28
半辣上half spicy384+1152+384
全辣上full spicy8192+24576+8192

Self-draw: all three opponents pay. Discard: only the player who threw the tile pays. Both columns are the winner's gain, straight out of the app's settlement function.

Worth knowing. Both doubling tables stop at 13 faan, so this 28-faan hand is paid at the 13-faan row — 384 points under 半辣上 and 8192 under 全辣上. Everything above 13 faan pays the same. The additive model has no ceiling, so there the extra faan still count.

Try it yourself

Heavenly Hand has no detector in the engine yet — it is a moment at the table rather than a shape in the tiles, so a table adds its faan by hand. The calculator totals up everything else in the hand.
