All Simple (斷幺九 · Tuen Yiu Gau) is a Hong Kong mahjong scoring bonus: Every tile in your hand is a plain middle number — a 2 up to an 8. No 1s, no 9s, and no wind or dragon tiles. The legacy additive reference sheet prices it at 1 faan, and every win also carries the 1 faan base, so a hand whose only named line is All Simple totals 2 faan. Payment follows the hand's whole faan total, not this line alone: under the legacy additive model the total is what each payer hands over — all three opponents on a self-draw (自摸), the discarder alone on a discard win (點炮), and since 2 faan is under the 3 faan minimum, All Simple is a top-up rather than a hand of its own. These are legacy additive reference values; tables choose their own sheet.

How to spot All Simple at the table

Look for any 1, 9, wind or dragon — if there are none, it is All Simple.

Every win starts at 1 faan for the base, so a hand whose only named line is All Simple is worth 1 + 1 = 2 faan. Anything else the hand happens to be — a flush, a triplet shape, a dragon set — stacks on top of that.

That is under the table minimum of 3 faan, so All Simple on its own never wins a hand. It is a top-up, not a hand.

What 2 faan actually pays

Faan is not the score by itself — it is the number the table turns into points, and Hong Kong tables do that two different ways. The table below keeps the legacy additive reference sheet's hand values and changes only its payout model. The half/full rows are illustrative payout overrides, not the Half Spicy or Full Spicy presets, which also change hand values and settlement.

Self-draw: all three opponents pay. Discard: only the player who threw the tile pays. Both columns are the winner's gain, straight out of the app's settlement function.

Worth knowing. Under a doubling table a hand below the 3 faan minimum pays nothing at all — the zeros above are the engine's minimum-faan gate, not a rounding artefact.
